Bird watchers visiting the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge near Willows, California have it easy...no long hikes to reach the birds but rather a six mile drive along the marshes in the comfort of your own car. The refuge is set up that way to allow visitors more access to the birds and less impact since the birds seem to be unafraid of the cars. (Visitors are asked to stay in their cars.) This time of the year there are over 500,000 ducks and 300,000 geese in the refuge boundaries, making it one of the premier wildlife viewing locations on the Pacific Flyway.
